“Jeanine lost her son CJ to childhood cancer 5 years ago at the age of 19. Since that time she has created a registered 501(c)3 organization called CJ’s Journey. CJ’s Journey helps those affected by childhood cancer. She has created a community of support and hope for so many people affected by this devastating disease. She works endlessly to bring hope to others and works to raise awareness and money for research. She is truly a hero for so many reasons, but her ability to overcome her own heartache of losing her son and turning that into something beautiful for others is truly admirable. “- Michelle K

“Ricardo was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosacroma December 2012. He was 4 1/2 at that time. We honestly caught it early. So he was stage 1. He did have to do chemo treatments for 6 months. He had several surgery’s port insert tumor removed and some of the location  where the tumors was found removed. He is also our miracle child cause I wasn’t able to have a baby. He is such a blessing to us. He is now in remission. He is in the 1st grade. He is loving school. He had just started private school when he was 4 but when he was diagnosed we had to take him out of school. Which was really hard for him. He did go back full time to school last year for. He is doing great. ” – Yvette G

“Brendan has organized Surfing 4 a Cure for the past 3 years raising over $45,000 to date towards Research at CHLA. Surfing 4 a Cure is a surf relay similar to a relay walk, where each surfer must raise money to participate. Followed by an after party with a raffle and auction to add to the funds raised. Brendan started a foundation (Everlasting Smiles Foundation) in 2010 and merged with The Young and Brave in 2013. Through his foundations, he has organized Thanksgiving dinners and Hawaiian themed dinners for families and patients at Mattel Children’s Hospital, and gave baskets with gift cards and much needed items to patients and families at CHLA and Mattel. Brendan began all his work after meeting several children through a Children’s Hospice event he attended. Along with his family, they organized a fundraiser for Trinity Kids Care in LA, which prompted him to start Everlasting Smiles Foundation. Surfing 4 a Cure has been featured on Torrance News and in Drop Zone LA Magazine, and can be followed on FaceBook.” – Katie C

Throughout her journey, she kept an infectious smile on her face and even though she was the one suffering, she was the one who kept everyone around her strong and hopeful. “Reese is a gorgeous 4 year old who was diagnosed with leukemia 2 Christmases ago and has been fighting this long hard battle through the most precious and innocent years of her life. Although she has undergo more in her short life than many will have to experience in a lifetime you will never see a picture that she doesn’t have a smile on her face, or a post that her mother isn’t praising The Lord for giving Miss Reese to them. They are truly amazing people and deserve every bit of recognition they can get.” – Logann D

“Has complained less than a handful of times about having cancer. He gave up baseball and basketball for the year to beat this monster. Very active young man to house bound sometimes bed bound.” – Summer V.

“Norah is a sweet and sensitive 5 year old who witnessed first hand her older brother Rohan (7 years old) being sick and diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor just 23 months ago. Rohan’s passion were Legos and so in his honor and memory, we created gold Lego ribbons to wear, to create awareness and thereby funding towards research. Norah is our child advocate who proudly wears her gold Lego ribbon everywhere and opens up conversations about her brother, the cancer and how it took away his life. Through a cancer camp she attended in June, she knows the key words Aware and Research and she is doing her best in making other kids familiar with these terms. Her one way of doing so is by offering her gold Lego ribbons to anyone who wants them for a donation. She is an active fundraiser for the Seattle Run of Hope 5K, a run that is done yearly in Sept to raise awareness and funds for Pediatric Brain Tumor Research at Seattle Children’s. Her fundraising page is http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/NorahUmdor-Singh/2014. Here is a quote from her page: ‘September is childhood cancer month and I choose to turn this month GOLD by wearing my Lego ribbon every single day and talk about my brother and cancer.'” – Cammy U-S.
